Process

The user experience processes are adjusted depending on the organization, but to give you an example of what to expect:

Strategy

1. The VP of product decides the strategic imperative

2.  Projects are prioritized by how well they fit in with the strategic imperatives as well as their expected cost

3. Product and UE align on product goals and success metrics

Research

4. Product Management and UE do a lot of research both internally and externally to identify specific areas of opportunity and formulate hypothesis

Product Definition

5. Product and UE create a minimum viable product document which describes the basic functionality and a few directional sketches to visualize it.

6. The concept is revised and approved by stakeholders such as business, engineering, and marketing

7. Detailed wireframes and specs are created.

Resource Allocation

8. A timeline is drawn by the project manager and the resources allocated for the project.  Jira tickets are created and assigned.  Wireframes are attached to the tickets.

Product Specifications

9. The detailed wireframes are communicated to engineers and to visual designers.  Engineers build the product and designers deliver the assets, visual specs and final mockups.

Testing and Bug Filing

10. UE and Product do thorough customer acceptance testing.  We file bugs where needed and jointly make tradeoffs as they are identified.

11.  QA does thorough testing.

12. We release the product to a small number of people to ensure there is no negative impact on revenue.

Final Release

13.  Once we verify everything is working, we release it to 100% of our users.
