The goal of this project was to make the most terrifying and functional vampire ball gown and of course to have fun playing with people's perceptions in the spirit of my favorite holiday: Halloween.
****Warning, clicking on the image will reveal graphic images of artisan eyeballs. **** Polymer clay was molded and then hand-sculpted into the shape of eyeballs. Once the desired shape was achieved, the eyeballs were cooked until the clay hardened.
Using templates I created the ghostly masks from scratch using flour, water, dryer sheet fabric, dry wall joint compound and silicon caulk.
I first looked to see if anyone had ever attempted to create a 'soul eating' vampire ball gown before. Fortunately I discovered that this idea is one of a kind. I sketched out ideas and eventually made a plan to do the skirt only, this limiting the scope and cost of work.
